There are only 28 campsites in this high mountain Provincial Campground and if you are lucky enough to arrive when one is available you will be in for a real treat. The campsites are gravel based and in excellent shape. While there are no hookups available you will like the favct that the sites are pretty level with plenty of space between them. Most of the sites are on the lake or along the small creek that feeds the lake at the campground. Beavers are a common site at the footbridge over the creek.

There is a boat launch providing access to fishermen in persuit of the rainbow and lake trout along with the mountain whitefish found in Summit Lake.

Bordering between alpine and sub-alpine areas, Summit Lake Campground is located just north of the highest point along the Alaska Highway . At 4,249 feet, the pass overlooks a massive drainage to the south and even higher peaks to the north.

Summit Lake Campground is open from early May to mid September and a small fee, $16.00 per night, is charged to help in maintaining this magnificient park in one of the most stunning locations you will encounter along the Alaska Highway.

Stone Mountain Provincial Park encompasses a large portion of the Northern Rocky Mountains. With what you are about to see along the Alaska Highway one can just imagine what breathtaking scenes lie just over that next ridge. While I have logged over 35 trips up and down the Alaska Highway, to this day, my desire to stop and stare has never diminished. If their is one location along the entire drive to Alaska that never gets old or tiring it is the Stone Mountains of Northern British Columbia.
