Campgrounds in Anchorage Alaska

You're in luck, there's an abundance of campgrounds in Anchorage Alaska that range from free camping in parking lots to exceptional RV parks that will greatly enhance your time in our fair city.

Our personal choice is to drop into one of the better RV Campgrounds in Anchorage where the services are first rate and the atmosphere is uniquely Alaskan. The choice between staying at one of the inner city RV parks or opting for a more secluded setting is a personal choice. Luckly, both are readily available in Anchorage. Located on the northern edge of Anchorage is Centennial Campground. This located at 8300 of the Glenn Highway in Anchorage or just a little further out, about another 10 miles is all, you come to Eagle River Campground. The only drawback to Eagle River Campground is the lack of hookups for RV's but the location is really worth a night or two of boondocking.

To the south of Anchorage, Bird Creek Campground offers convenient roadside camping in a setting surrounded by spruce trees, rugged mountains, the picturesque Turnagain Arm of Cook Inlet and the popular salmon fishing stream of Bird Creek. Located at milepost 101.2 on the Seward Highway, Bird Creek Campground is just a scenic 20 miles south of Anchorage AK. The area around Bird Creek Campground is also very popular with hikers and bicyclists too. The paved coastal trail, (Indian To Girdwood Bike Path), passes right through the campground and takes you along the rugged shores of Turnagain Arm.
