Kelly Lake Campground
Kenai National Wildlife Refuge
Milepost 68.3
Sterling Highway, near Sterling AK.
Kenai Peninsula, Alaska
No services are available so please pack out your trash to keep this great little
campground open. Kelly Lake Campground is little more than a semi-open area that is a popular stop
with locals for fishing, hiking, picnicking and vehicle accessable camping. The area is user maintained
so once again we urge everyone to pack out their trash and leave the area in better shape than when
you arrived.
Kelly Lake Campground
Both Kelly and Peterson Lakes Campgrounds are small semi remote campsites most
often used by locals from the Kenai Peninsula. Both lakes offer trout fishing and excellent
wildlife viewing. Loons are nearly always present on both lakes and moose, bear and small game
are often seen too.
While
not much more than a good sized parking area on the shores of a magnificent wilderness lake, Kelly
Lake Campground has five picnic tables, fire places, a toilet, centralized hand pump water and a
boat launch plus a very large dose of serenity too. Looking to get away from the crowds? Kelly and
Peterson Lakes Campgrounds are just the place for you.
We last camped here on May 12, 2016.
