Peterson Lake Campground

Peterson Lake Campground is little more than a semi-open area that is a popular stop with locals for fishing, hiking, picnicking and vehicle accessable camping. The area is user maintained so once again we urge everyone to pack out their trash and leave the area in better shape than when you arrived.

New restrooms at Peterson LakeAccess is via the Sterling Highway at milepost 68.3 between Cooper Landing and Sterling AK. Turn south onto Kelly/Peterson Lakes Road and it's just ½ to Kelly Lake Campground or one mile to Peterson Lake Campground.

Peterson Lake campground has 4 designated campsites with additional room for RV's in the parking lot. As the campsites are arranged in a circle surrounding the parking lot, there really is no size limit on RVs. As we were not able to locate a fee box and there was no price per night listed on the signs we assume that this campsite, like Kelly Lake Campground, is still free for camp at; Note that there is a 14 night limit posted on the sign. Peterson Lake campground has a well pump for water, tables, a new bathroom with pit toilets and a small boat launch.
