While being one of the smaller campgrounds on the Kenai Peninsula, Watson Lake Campground is in excellent shape having just undergone a major renovation with many new improvements to make your stay an enjoyable one. Located at about milepost 71 of the Sterling Highway Watson Lake Campground is close to many popular fishing holes and to the town of Sterling too.
What
we like best about Watson Lake Campground is found in the solitude of its location. The campground
is far enough off the road to minimize most road noises and there is a small boat launch on the
lake to allow non-motorized boat launching.
Birds, ducks, geese and loons are frequently seen on Watson Lake making for a restful place to stay.
The 3 campsites are dry but water is available from a centeralized hand pump. Picnic tables and fire rings are in excellent shape and the pads are pretty level too. The bathrooms, located across from the water pump, are pit type but kept very clean and in good shape.
